A Show of COurage
It takes courage to express yourself, to showcase your creativity, to be honest, and to live
January 15 - April 5, 2025 | Curated by Kaitlin Wilfing
These works exhibited in the Red Gate Gallery are the stories that showed true narrative and SISU drive to tell their stories and be resilient in the face of the world as it is today. This show was an open door for any artist from marginalized communities - either a person of color, part of the LGBTQIA+ community, an immigrant, a women - to tell a story that we are rarely seeing represented in our general Western media. Exploring different kinds of story telling from video, to sculpture, to zines, to traditional 2D works, this show allows artists of the local community to broadcast their experiences in the medium that best represented themselves. Giving them the mic, this show asks the artists what their honest and unique experience has been in the last five to seven years? And the call was answered in earnest.
This exhibition is truly a combination of a passion project and an ever expanding community outreach program. I want to thank everyone who has ever helped me to create this vision into a reality, all the artists who are participating both submitted and accepted, and all those who cheered me on from the sidelines.
Thank you for sharing your stories with me.
